While You're Here

Things To Do

On arrival at Yurt by the Sea you could simply park your car and not use it again for the duration of your stay because all of your basic requirements for a relaxing break can be found right here. On the other hand, you have just arrived at an incredible location with an amazing number of things to see and do if you wish.

Locally, Mullaway Beach (just 80 metres away) and the adjacent Cabins Beach provide pristine conditions for swimming, snorkelling, fishing, diving and surfing and the nearby Arrawarra headland break is a particular favourite for long board enthusiasts. There’s also a convenient local store and takeaway in the village.

As well as great fishing and waves, there’s a small picnic area and children’s playground.

If you’re clever enough to catch a fish or two, you can cook them up on the barbecues and then relax among the paperbark trees while the kids play on the swings.
Be sure to take the headland walk for sensational views – steep cliffs, rock ledges and Solitary Islands Marine Park are all stand-outs.

Looking further afield, a mere seven minutes drive away is the town of Woolgoolga, ‘Woopi’ to the locals. In Woolgoolga you’ll find licensed clubs, hotels, the Seaview Tavern, a good choice of cafes and restaurants and supermarkets to cater for all your needs. There’s also a golf course only a short drive away.

All around this area you’ll find superb National Park coastal and bush walks with waterfalls and dense rainforest to explore.

From pristine beaches to mountain views, this area has everything you need for a perfect break.

Surfing

Yurt by the Sea is nestled amongst some of the most serene beaches along the east coast of Australia, and with more coastline than population, you’re bound to find a quiet beach to surf without interruption. However, if you’re looking for the best waves, Arrawarra – just two minutes north of Mullaway – is well known for it’s long board break.

Also a popular destination is Woolgoolga – just ten minutes South of Yurt by the Sea – is well known amongst the locals, and has a relaxed, beachy vibe with small cafes and several surf shops.

For a day with the family, Woolgoolga is an ideal destination as it has Surf Life Saving during the warmer months, as well as dog-friendly beaches and even surfing lessons.

Solitary Islands Surf School uses the southern end of the beach, with the more experienced surfers heading north past the shelter of the headland.

Dining Out

The seaside town of Woolgoolga (or ‘Woopi’ to locals) offers a variety of dining experiences just ten minutes from Yurt by the Sea. Ranging from tavern-style bistro menu’s to elegant sit-down settings, there is a restaurant for every budget and event. The RSL Club is great for a beer and some affordable food, whereas places like Saltwater Restaurant and Bluebottles offer the full dining experience.

White Salt has some amazing Fish,Chips and Salads, and if Thai is your thing Aloy Dee is a must.

The Local Mullaway General Store does some amazing burgers etc , which is just a short stroll along the street.

The Amble Inn will be only too happy to send their Bus to collect you for a great Tavern Meal and drop you back when finished.
